Giorgos Venizelos

Fellow in Political Polarisation at Central European University. His research focuses on populism in power, anti-populism, collective identities, discourses about post-truth. He co-convenes the group since 2019.

Jana Goyvaerts

Guest Professor at the Department of Communication Studies of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). In 2023, she obtained a PhD on discourses about populism and on how the meaning of populism is constructed by journalists, politicians and academics.  She co-convenes the group since 2024.

Juan Roch González 

Margarita Salas postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.  His research stands in the intersection of critical European studies, populism, nationalism and legitimation and disinformation in liberal democracies.. He  co-convenes the the group since 2022.

Laura Chazel 

Postdoctoral researcher at Sciences Po Grenoble (Pacte). Her research focuses on populism, on the mutations of the radical left over the last two decades, the emergence of new forms of protest that aim to ‘radicalise’ (liberal) democracy, and the concept of ‘green populism’. She co-convenes the group since 2025.

Théo Aiolfi 

Junior Professor at the University of Burgundy. His interdisciplinary research is located at the intersection of politics and performance studies, focusing on the stylistic dimension of populism and the political communication of politicians. He co-convenes the group since 2022.

Thomás Zicman de Barros

Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Ethics, Politics and Society (CEPS), University of Minho, Lecturer and Research Associate at the Center for Political Research (CEVIPOF), SciencesPo, Paris. His research focuses on the intersections of politics and psychoanalysis. He co-convenes the group since 2021.
